In March, I was so honored to go to a photography workshop that focused exclusively on newborn photography. I learned so much in those couple of days about great lighting, specific techniques, and posing. One thing we photographers try to do is nail the shot SOOC…that means “straight out of the camera”. When I returned from the workshop, I saw a friend from high school just had a baby niece and reached out to see if she would be a good newborn model for me. It worked out perfectly. This sweet little girl was amazing, and allowed me to focus and practice all I learned.
I so enjoy photographing babies and children, however….newborns are in their own league for skill level and technique needed and my passion for it. I just LOVE newborns. I believe newborn photography is just as important as wedding photography…this is such a special and memorable time for families to bring in their fresh, squishy brand new baby. This newborn stage fades away so quickly….in just two weeks…they start to change!
