Frequently Asked Questions:
STYLE:
What type of photography do you do?
Melissa describes her style as elegant, candid and fun. She works very hard to capture those priceless moments of your “best day ever” in a very non-intrusive way. She focuses on the romance and special moments of the day as it unfolds. Melissa will not make you pose in front of your cake, or interrupt guests while they are eating dinner for a photograph. She prefers to capture them laughing, smiling, dancing and enjoying the day. She offers a great balance of a photojournalistic and classic approach to photographing a wedding. The photojournalistic approach means that she will photograph the day as it unfolds however she does believe that there is a time and place for gorgeous casually posed images of the bride and groom together. Melissa recommends she have at least one hour (or more!) alone with both the bride and groom to create those gorgeous photographs in her wedding gallery.
Do you still take posed family images?
YES! Melissa believes in the family images, and knows that they are going to be cherished for a lifetime by all family members. Melissa works with her couples to make sure that this time frame for the family photographs goes smoothly and quickly for everyone. She does her very best to make these images not be “formal” but fun and enjoyable!
What is the FIRST LOOK?
The “first look” is when the bride and groom see each other BEFORE the wedding ceremony. Melissa loves it when couples chose to do this for many reason.
1. She makes it very romantic and intimate for the couples. She is able able to capture some incredibly emotional images that you just do not get at the ceremony.
2. It allows the couple to spend more time together on the wedding day.
3. It allows Melissa to get more photographs of just the couple.
It is always the couples choose, but Melissa does ask that you truly consider the “first look” option. It is so worth…and not one of Melissa’s couples has regretted this choice, in fact they have ALL said they are so happy they chose the “first look”.
What is the PHOTO BOOTH?
Included in some of Melissa’s collections, or as an “add on”…is the photo booth. This is so fun for couples and their guests once the party gets started. Melissa sets up a black backdrop and guests have a blast getting their picture taken. This is perfect for the group shots of your college friend or family members you did not get family formals with earlier in the day. She also bring some fun props for those that want to get a little crazy. The photo booth is always a huge hit and very popular at wedding receptions!
