This handsome little man did so well. He was so easy to work with and it was one of the quickest newborn sessions we have ever done, since he let us do whatever we asked of him. We are really enjoying our new shooting space…and look forward to “next time”!! I have had several people ask me….”where do you get those hats?!?” I have a fabulous local hat lady….her name is Diane and she she can be located at her Facebook business page. She is wonderful, and has an incredible talent!

Our New Shooting Space!! Kalamazoo Studio Photographer

I am thrilled to show off to you our new shooting space. Honestly, its not all done….I would say its about 90% done, it now needs those finishing touches on it to make it shine a little more. We plan to add more artwork and a couple pieces of furniture, however….this space is our “shooting space”. I have had so many requests to see photos….so here they are!!

This is where we are doing all our in studio sessions and we LOVE it. We also want to announce that we are renting out this space for small parties or showers such as a wedding or baby shower. So if you are looking for a great space right in downtown Kalamazoo, contact me….you can cater in your food and have a fun intimate party with family and friends.

Now…back to my love…photography! This space is just perfect for all my studio needs…..

I bought this cute little dresser at a used furniture shop in Plainwell…keeping it local!

I custom made this art piece myself (with the help of photoshop)….I think its a perfect motto for our shooting space.

The space is white and “clean”….we wanted it to have a comfortable yet refreshing feel to it. Like I said, it still needs a few pieces…

we just have to find those perfect accessories!

This is our shooting space (the hardwood floors) these were the original floors in the building. I was SHOCKED at how well they

were able to restore them. I thought they were way beyond repair, but I am thrilled to have them…I love all the different colors

in them. They are so beautiful!!

This glorious window is what sold me on this space! We LOVE working with this kind of natural light!!

Welcome Quinn – Kalamazoo Newborn Photography

A few months ago, I received an email from little Quinn’s mommy asking me to photograph her when she was born. I was thrilled because I already knew this family was something special…I photographed big sister Chloe last year. Quinn did a great job at her first photo shoot. So little, sweet and snuggling. Oh how I love my job!!

Kalamazoo Photography Class and Workshop

What a wonderful turnout we had for our first Mommy Photography Class. It was so exciting to moms come to this class eager to learn how to take better pictures of their beautiful children. I was honored to teach them the basics of a camera and how to “look” for a good image and make it happen. As moms, we have the responsibility to give our children the memories of their childhood through photographs. We need to remember that we as moms also need to be in those photographs! So moms…I encourage you to pass your camera off to someone and snuggle up your kids and get in those memories (photographs) as well. We all know that our memories fade fast, twenty years from now we want our kids to look back and see photos of their family…that includes YOU!

In the afternoon, we stepped it up a level and taught a beginner SLR camera/photography class. The purpose of the class was to teach our 10 students to “get out of the auto mode”. They were so fun to work with and very quick learners!! It was a wonderful day of teaching…looking forward to it again next year!

Heritage J Term Class – Kalamazoo Photography Workshops Tutoring Classes and Mentoring

The last two weeks, I had the privilege of teaching a photography class every day to some really fun teenagers from Heritage Christian Academy. I will admit I was pretty nervous to teach teenagers….I remember those year, not pretty! But they all surprised me…they were so fun to get to know and work with each day. They learned the settings on a camera, lighting, editing and posing… I hope that they had a great time….it was so fun to watch them learn the wonderful world of photography. I am already looking forward to next year!!

Willy Wonka-Home School Production

Every year, I am asked to photograph some amazingly talented kids and their productions/musicals. This year it was Willy Wonka….again another fabulous job! This year, I took Norah and she loved it. I think this is going to be an annual event for our family!!

Pretty Mama – Kalamazoo Maternity Photography

I remember my last week of pregnancy with Noelle (actually turned into two weeks, since she decided to hang out inside a little longer) I did not feel pretty or elegant and definitely not photogenic! This pretty mama that came to us last week was already two days past her due date and wearing the cutest dresses and even high heels! She truly GLOWED! I was so impressed and a little jealous! And to top it all off….I just found out they left the studio and went right to the hospital and she gave birth to a little boy at midnight!
It was a fun session in our new shooting space….this was our first maternity session in there. Looking forward to many more mommy to be sessions in the future.
Enjoy the photographs, and if you are a pregnant mommy please consider photographing this special time in your life….you may not “feel like it”….but we women truly to “glow” when we are pregnant!

Look for newborn photographs in the next few weeks…they are scheduled to come in next week!

Milo – Kalamazoo Baby Photography

Milo is already 3 months old, and my goodness is he handsome, cute, chubby,squishy, and did I mention CUTE! We had a great session with him and his big sister Olive. Milo is part of our “Baby Plan”….you can click here to peak at his newborn session. Since he is part of the Baby Plan….we will be seeing him again for his 6 month session!! Looking forward to it, his mommy and I have so much fun thinking up things to do for these sessions!!

Gotta give sweet Olive some blog love too……my camera loves her!!

Meet my new neighbors!! Our neighbors just down the road from us had twins right before Christmas, and I was so incredibly excited to be able to photograph them. They were so good and so sleepy…making our jobs downright easy.

Whitney & Richard – Kalamazoo Wedding Photography

Whitney and Richard were married at the Kalamazoo Country Club on New Year’s Eve. What a fun party they had for their guests. Whitney chose a gorgeous pale pink wedding gown, that she just glowed in. She was a stunning bride! What a wonderful way to ring in the New Year by photographing a sweet couple vow to spend the rest of your life together, and then have a crazy fun party!!

It was chilly, but we were gifted with a gorgeous sunset…and enjoyed every moment of it!

The ceremony and the words from family members were so sweet and memorable. There were smiles, laugh, tears…and even more laughs!!

And then….they PARTIED!!!! Happy New Year!
